宣教主日 Mission Sunday

|

On Mission Sunday (7 January, 2007), Rev Chu, when he was preaching, told the church that a lot of the noisy arguments in churches today are due to the selfishness of the church members. He said that, a lot of times, problems occur in the church because we only care about our rights. The church has become like a club where we only care about the benefits we get and what we can gain or lose.

The scriptures in 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 says that “For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” We, Christians, should no longer live for ourselves. The love of Christ compels us to live for Jesus Christ who died for us.

The great commission that Jesus has given the church is to preach the gospel; to save the souls of people who do not know Jesus Christ yet. If we concentrate on this mission, if we concentrate on the people outside the church who need the Lord; there will be less problems inside the church. A church that is weak in mission is a church whose members are self centered.

I pray that God will move all of our church members to have a heart for mission.
